When Christine - an avid fan of the hit show "Survivor" and mother-to-be - announced that she was expecting there was no question about what the theme of her baby shower would be. Christine is a rabid Survivor fan and she knew she had to have a celebration that included couples, so the Survivor theme was the perfect setting for her men and women guests.
The Survivor shower was held at a private home in Chatham County where guests could relax and focus on outwitting, outplaying and outlasting the competition. From the parchment paper scroll invites to the tiki torches and tribal music that welcomed couples upon arrival, this unique Survivor soiree was one of a kind.
A tribal-council area where challenges took place, was created using a tree cut into log seats that were arranged in a circle around an outdoor fire-pit. The guests of honor were dressed in tie-dye bandanas and embroidered shirts boasting the logo SURVIVING THE BABY. Party games began with all of the men balancing on a stump on one leg, with eyes closed while attempting to down a drink without falling. The last man standing received the coveted immunity necklace. All guests joined in the fun of trying to guess the birth date and weight of the baby. The guests wrote their guess on weathered paper amidst candles and palm leaves and placed them in a giant urn.
The catering for the party included creative seafoods, dips and exotic tropical fruits. Couples dined on mini fish tacos, jumbo lump crab cakes, roasted Cornish hens and a variety of other fantastic foods. These tasty dishes were deftly paired with coconut-lime piña coladas served in real coconut shells. Festive party plates were decorated with crabs, banana leaves, full mangos and pineapples. Side dishes such as jicama slaw and mango salsa were also popular with the guests.
As the night came to a close and to complete the Survivor experience, each guest took home a custom tie dyed towel, a festive candle and scrumptious alligator shaped cupcakes.
