When a girl turns five it's a very big deal and to bubbly birthday girl, Sydney, there was no better way to celebrate than with a good old-fashioned 50's sock hop.
Guests arrived at the "shin-dig" dressed to the nines in full sock hop attire. Tables were covered in bright pink with a black and white polka dot overlay. Poodle purses made eye-catching vases for centerpieces fashioned in all shades of pink. Tall balloon milkshakes, music note columns, and hanging musical chandelier sculptures filled the room. The party scene was covered in black and white checkerboard with records hanging from the walls and ceilings. An old-fashioned photo booth was the hit of the party and stayed full of excited sock hoppers grinning ear to ear.
Mini diner foods were served buffet style. Cheeseburger sliders topped with a little pickle, bite-sized Rueben sandwiches and mini Grilled Cheese sandwiches with tomato soup sips were a hit with hungry birthday boppers. All of the children received little lunch boxes containing a turkey sandwich in the shape of a music note, fruit salad and a juice box. Sweet potato chips and other anti-allergenic snacks were provided for kids with special food needs. Signature Root Beer floats were served as a special treat to top off the fabulous-50's theme. After delicious cake, dancing and a terrific time, each child received a retro pair of sunglasses, a pink poodle cookie, and a CD of old-timey sock hop favorites.
