For anyone born in the month of December, throwing a beach-themed birthday bash can be difficult. But with the help of a few key ocean elements, the tides quickly turned winter weather into summer fun.
It all began with invitations to Vivienne's boardwalk birthday bash. Inspired by her favorite shoes, the colorful flip-flop invites set the tone for the summer themed soiree.
Local florist, The English Garden, created unique centerpieces using sand and seashells that Vivienne collected from the beach. The florist also included brightly colored gerbera daisies, orchids, and other fun blooms associated with summer. Although the party was catered, Vivienne's grandparents cooked up a few family favorites including their famous crab-dip. In true boardwalk style, a cotton candy machine was set up for kids to create their own cotton candy cones. Vivienne's beach inspired birthday cake displayed seashells, sand, a mermaid and ocean waves. To keep partygoers movin' and groovin', DJ's were hired to play dance hits and beach music. Various "kid zones" including board games, dress up stations and craft tables, were set up throughout the house. A bounce-house in the shape of a huge octopus was set up outside for the kids to work off cake and cotton candy highs. The evening was topped off with a mesmerizing magic show performed by the hilarious Captain Kid.
Upon their departure, guests created their own goody bags from a large candy and cookie display, leaving all with a sweet reminder of summer.
