What could be more fascinating than sweet, little bunnies? How about bunnies having a tea party! For three-year-old Ellis Harshbarger, this transformation from a nursery to a big-girl room is a defining moment.
The nursery originally featured a similar bunny theme but with more of a baby look. A fanciful mural containing bunnies enjoying a tea party and playing outside completely covers one wall. The other walls are painted a soft blue to compliment the new fabric which features a white background with colorful green, pink, purple and yellow accents. These well-integrated extras make this room anything but ordinary.
The crib was replaced by a more feminine big-girl twin bed in creamy white. The custom bedding includes a bunny fabric on the duvet. And a gathered blue and white gingham bed skirt with various pillows brings out the subtle colors of the fabric.
"We were inspired by the fabric from the nursery, which was butterfly valances and bunny fabric with a pink ruffle at the bottom." Jennifer Harshbarger explains. "So we updated the room for a big-girl and added the mural to bring the scenes to life."
Incorporating older elements of the nursery with the new whimsical items gives the room a new yet familiar comfortable feel.
