Cozy as a Kiwi

Every parent wants their child to know about their families past and where they come from. New Zealand native and proud father, Ben Powell, is no exception.

With this in mind, creating a place where Ben could share childhood memories with his son became top priority to designer Loren Pease of Sweet Pease.

"I wanted to create a special space where Ryan could relate to his fathers home. For example, the name on the tree, Matarawa Grove, is the name of his grandmother's olive grove in New Zealand," Loren explains "I wanted to make sure that everything was authentic, right down to the Buzzy Bee."

Loren incorporated beautiful hills, lambs, nature and wildlife into the life like New Zealand inspired mural. Greens, yellows, browns and purples were used to match the bedding and furniture in the room from Babies'R'Us. To personalize the nursery, Loren created a canvas that included Ryan's name and two accent pieces with the entire New Zealand lamb theme.

"Ben couldn't wait to show Ryan everything in the room, he even woke him up from his nap." Maureen Powell says, "It was everything we talked about and more, it's just the perfect place for Ryan to learn where his daddy grew up."
