Three Reasons to Sell and Shop Resale

#1: It's a bargain.

Are you skeptical? Don't be. At many of the area's resale shops you can find "nearly new" designer kids clothes at a fraction of the retail price. Plus, many of the items have barely been used, or not used at all. That's because many infants grow faster than their parents expected or babies are born larger than layette size. "I bought a few items for my daughter before she was born that never fit," says Allison Murray of Chapel Hill. "Because I had already washed the clothes and removed the tags, I couldn't return them."

#2: It's the green thing to do.

"Reselling clothes and buying gently used clothes is recycling at it's best," says Cathy Wagoner, owner of the Children's Orchard in Cary. "The original owner receives a fair price for good quality merchandise, and the satisfaction that comes from having those items used by someone else. The next consumer receives the satisfaction of making a cost-effective, ecological choice, and is also able to buy the quality that they desire." Reselling clothing gives more lives to clothing items. That means we can make the most of our Earth's limited resources. "When we add one or two lives to an item that, at best, a child can use only a few months, we are showing our concern for and appreciation of I had already washed them the Earth that provided the raw materials for that item," says Cathy.

#3: It's fun.

From big box retail names like Baby Gap and Gymboree to upscale boutique offerings, you never know what you'll find among the resale racks. "Shopping at our resale shop can certainly be a treasure hunt," says Cathy. "You never know what you'll find. A lot of our customers come because they love the thrill of finding truly special bargains, many with their original price tags. Once a customer realizes the care we put into the selection of resale items, they begin to trust the concept. They often then become repeat buyers and sellers. Resale is definitely a win-win concept for buyers as well as sellers."
