Caring for Baby's Clothes
- Treat Stains Immediately. Buy two or three bottles of gentle stain remover
like Dreft's Spray Stain Remover, $3.99 for a 22 oz bottle or
Mother's Little Miracle, $7.99 for a 32 oz bottle. Keep one bottle at your
changing table, one where you feed and one (travel size) in your laundry bag.
Treat stains where and when they happen. If one is particularly troublesome,
treat again before washing.
- Make Bibs and Burp Clothes Your Best Friend. If you hate covering baby's
outfits, choose an adorable bib. We like Milk and Cookies plastic bibs for
their precious prints and wipe-clean surfaces ($15.00 at Dilly Dally). If
you don't like bibs, or don't have one on hand, place a space heater near
the high chair (but out of baby's reach!) and undress to the diaper.
- Package tiny items for washing. We don't know how, but tiny socks and itty-bitty
t-shirts are eaten up by cavernous washing machines. Consider
putting small items in a lingerie bag before putting them in the washer.
Plan Ahead for Resale
- Present your clothes at their best. Your offerings should be freshly laundered, free of stains, odor-free and pressed.
- Bring only clothes that are in season. Sell warm weather clothes just before summer.
- Name brands are hot. Resale shops are looking for better-quality baby apparel.
- Consider selling high-demand items. Many resale shops are interested in items like baby carriers, bouncy seats, swings, and bassinettes.
